What a thing to wake up to. I read this, and knew I had to post about it straight away.
Ben Affleck will officially be playing The Dark Knight in the sequel to Man of Steel.
The movies director, Zack Snyder, had this to say:
"Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman," added director Snyder. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”
Personally, I think this is awesome news. I've been championing Ben Affleck throughout his entire career, sans Gigli - natch, and think it's about time the rest of the world caught onto what he's capable of. Sure, whatever doubts you had of him as an actor were irrelevant when considering him as a director, BUT I've always enjoyed his work, no matter what role he has on set and, lest we forget: Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms!
This Superman/Batman crossover thing just got a whole lot more interesting. What do you guys make of it, do you think Ben will bring the gravitas to this older, wiser, Dark Knight?
