For those amongst you who happen to not only be anime fans, but MMA fans as well, you may be aware that the UFC Twitter and Facebook accounts have been teasing the reveal of a mystery fighter to be featured in their upcoming video game EA Sports: UFC for the past few days.
Well, after numerous hints and tips, they've finally revealed the mystery fighter to be none other than Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee in a UFC video game!
Having brokered a deal earlier this year with Bruce Lee Enterprises, allowing the UFC to feature the legend on a number of their t-shirts, etc, it is still with some surprise that EA have managed to procure the rights to use him within the game.
Working closely with Bruce Lee Enterprises, EA have managed to craft an incredibly life like, and detailed, Bruce Lee model for fight fans to utilise come the games release in Spring 2014.
When posed with the simple question 'Why Bruce?', Brian Hayes, the Creative Director for EA Sports: UFC, had this to say:
"I feel like this is the most ridiculous question. Why put Bruce Lee in a UFC game? It’s. Bruce. Lee…
You have the premier organization in the fastest growing sport in the world, the UFC; and the most iconic martial artist in the history of the world, Bruce Lee – a martial artist renowned for his philosophies that laid the groundwork for modern mixed martial arts. I can’t conceive of a universe where bringing these two things together doesn’t make sense. I know there are going to be countless fans that feel the exact same way and they will be eager play with such a legend in the UFC Octagon. I am one of them."
