Welcome Lords and Ladies to an experience of a life time, without having to travel to Japan, experience one of the famous novelties that is a Butler cafe. Of course Tea Prince would feel incomplete without a few maids to add to the mix.
After a year of hiatus, Tea Prince return with new faces to a new Venue. After the departure of Loading Bar, Tea Prince needed a new location that held enough space and personality to suit the event. Boba Jam seemed to fit the bill with authentic Bubble tea to quench the lords and ladies thirst. For those of you who are new to the concept of Bubble Tea it is also known as pearl milk tea, boba milk tea, boba tea, tapioca tea, boba nai cha, pearl tea, milk tea, bubble drink, zhen zhu nai cha, momi, momi milk tea, QQ, or even "the drink with the fat straw".
It's a flavoured tea-based drink dating back to the 1980s in tea shops in Taichung, Taiwan. Normally mixed with fruit juices or milk even Ice-blended versions with a slushy consistency. The small chewy balls are made from a vegetable called tapioca.
Activities included magic tricks from the Mystery Maid who attended, Guess who, confessions, and my favourite the chekkies - a nice momento of the day for customers to treasure. Also a raffle sponsored by Tofu Cute where a lovely lady won a selection of cute and yummy Japanese snacks held above by Maid Usagi.
Aside from Bubble Tea you could choose from a selection of hot snacks like the spicy seafood soup, Takoyaki (Otopus balls) and not to forget the kawaii looking desserts such as the fruit filled crepes or new to the menu the delicious fried banana roll! It all just looked fabulous with the array of Lolita outfits the customers wore whilst eating. See Butler Rin serving a lady below.
Held in the basement of Boba Jam, 100-102 Shaftesbury Avenue, it held a privacy for those who knew of the niche event and it was packed! We had a over pour of people having to sit upstairs too. A lot of familiar faces came from the anime community to support their friends participating and even people from the other maid and butler cafes. It's lovely to see the tight knit community helping each out and having fun at the same time.
