Game Review: Senran Kagura Bon Appétit by Aisha Anime

Senran Kagura Bon Appétit

Developer: Marvelous AQL/XSEED Games
Platform: Vita
How much: £20.00

Over the Christmas break people have been shopping, eating and playing games. What did I do a bit all in one. I played a cooking rhythm game where I unlocked lingerie. I played the latest instalment of Senran Kagura Bon Appétit to hit the UK.

To be honest all I knew was it was a cooking game and thought it to be like cooking mama. Indeed I was wrong it was a fast paced music rhythm game to control the cooking (and clothes) of the high school ninjas.

Bon Appetit! rivals games of the same genre like Project Diva and DJ Max, but with it's own  niche with a unique blend of fan service, music, customisation and rhythm. If you looking for a in depth otome with strong story this is not the game for you. In fact some of the plots in story mode are ridiculous. A fella by name of Hanzo holds a cooking contest to eat food and look at boobs, in return the winner gains a scroll to give the winner their ultimate wish. This is all fraud but each gal is happy. Yagyu gains a stronger 'friendship' bond with Hibari and there is a lot of 'sister' fantas there. Where as Asuka is determined to prove that big and thick sushi maki's are the way forward and this of course leads to obsene conversations between the competitors. Katsuruga has the most crude wish to be the harem Queen and collects all the losers for her own personal grope fest.

Even though the story is weak the game is in no means easy, rhythm part of the game is very difficult. Best to start off in easy to unlock items then move on to hard. And very hard especially when you have distracting zoom in's of ahem boobs jiggling around. I'm not a pervert but it was so annoying, so much jiggling and their distraught faces. Can't be comfortable to cook in the nude. each round you are to beat the opponent and whoever loses get's a layer of their outfit destroyed as with the previous games. If you lose all three layers you are censored by chibi's on your nipples and flash of light on your vajayjay area.

If you complete the heart meter you unlock a photo of the opponent on a plate naked covered in dessert topping. I also figured out you can move the camera angels to get a good clse up or out...

Most of the characters are locked and are unlockable DLC which I think is a plus for hardcore fans of the series to know the characters. After beating story mode you unlock the character's ending photo, voice set and other bit's for your personal shrine.

This game is great to play on a journey on the train, after a solid three hours of playing this continuously I got bored. Also extremely uncomfortable to play in front of my mother. This game is far more explicit than Burst. Perfect for Otakus and rhythm game fans.

Tekken team produce Virtual School GIrl Otome by Aisha Anime

summer lessons

Here’s an interesting project from my favourite games company Bandai Namco, the team that brought us Tekken took the stage in video form during Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia’s press conference on 29-30th November.

They showcased a Project Morpheus school girl character in Summer Lessons using the communication tech demo which was supposed to playable at Tokyo Game Show 2014 but cancelled. The demo puts players in a virtual room with a virtual schoolgirl, who they can interact with in virtual reality whether to look at her, touch her or stand around confused, this project is actually head by Tekken boss Katsuhiro Harada.

Player opinions on School girl character:

The character was so close it made me nervous. Maybe the room is too small?
It's amazingly real!
I really want them to make a full product out of this.
I was surprised at how detailed the room was.
When she got close, my heart skipped a beat.
I think I'm in love.
I never thought a game character would make me this nervous.
I wanted to move around the room.
It was like she was really in front of me. I felt really bashful.
It was a very new experience for me. The possibilities seem endless.
The character was cute. I felt a natural charm about her.
The character presence was amazing!
She was a lot closer than I thought she'd be.
I still want to play it.
I was nervous the whole time. I felt the sound design was very important. The character felt closer than I expected.
I wouldn't want anyone watching me while I played.
The closeness of the character is amazing. They should make a simulation game where you try to get into Tokyo University together!
It was like she was right next to me. I want to live in that world.
It was amazingly stable. It's a shame you have to experience it to understand it.
It would have been even more immersive if they had voice interaction. It feels like she's really there.

Here is a pie chart of what players did with the girl:

The event was made available to only 700 people who were selected from Sony's official community site, hopefully they will be showcasing it at more vents in the future, I'd like to experience some MOE moments too :D ~Aisha Anime~

Anime Review: Hakuoki Season 1: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom Collection by Aisha Anime

Hakuoki season 1

Hakuoki season 1

It was only recently when i went to Japan I understood how popular the series Hakuoki was and that Europe was lucky to get two titles released here and the anime series. Hakuōki  Demon of the Fleeting Blossom looks like a harem or Bishounen anime to the naked eye.

Actually, the anime series is a well grounded anime with lots of interesting characters and plot based on history and with real character name , locations and contex The story revolves around the female lead  Yukimura Chizuru who has gone in search for her father. But runs int Ronin who fall to prey to the Shinsengumi or so she thinks, theses were much worse - the 'furies', a strong superhuman race with defining features of white hair and red eyes. Luckily before Chizuru comes to any harm, the real Shinsengumi come to her rescue.

Once Chizuru is in their custody it's either die by their hand or be a prisoner to their dastardly needs (if only). A greater purpose for her encounter with the Shinsengumi soon begins to unfold as the story develops. Both parties have the same mission in that they're both looking for Chizuru's father. To this end, Chizuru inadvertently joins the Shinsengumi (more a prisoner than comrade).

During the course of the series, she  forms bonds between her and some of Shinsengumi, but to be honest there are more battles with the furies and other armies than there is romance in this series. The battles come frequently on a large scale and the Shinsengumi prove themselves to be more than just good looks and charm. In fact I feel Chizuru is redundant apart from being the cook and nagging.

The Shinsengumi

The Shinsengumi

The plot I think is highly engaging, I wasn't gripped by the first episode and the shiny animation was a bit off putting, but once the character started to introduce themselves I really got into the series. Politics, strategy and action are the main themes of the anime, with occasional outbursts of slapstick comedy. It's really well balanced for something so serious.</p>

The furies are a topic of taboo to begin with and slowly learning about them changed the whole series for me. Who would have known there would be supernatural themes to take over in this historical setting? Throughout the series the Shinsengumi face many furies and you begin to learn some are 'real demons' and the man made ones have a 'sell by date', so to speak. Later on, you also begin to learn more behind the mystery surrounding Chizuru's father and his intentions. Being a series based on history and conflict, you'll find that some characters actually die, sometimes in nasty, artistic and realistic ways. Aside from the battles putting the series in historical context, it was eye opening to see disease as a way of slow death. Characters you may have favoured at the start also begin to change their ways and ideals throughout the series as a consequence of power, money, leadership and pride.

Definately an anime to invest in and season 2 and the OVA is already out and I hear there is a third season *fan girl screams* FOr more info on MVM UK titles go here:
